Dale Sky Jones on the End of Pot Prohibition and Lessons from Oaksterdam University
In addition to her role at Oaksterdam University, Jones is also the Chairwoman of the Coalition for Cannabis Policy Reform and has emerged as a vocal advocate for the legalization of marijuana in California and the United States. In conversation with Michael Montgomery, reporter and producer at The Center for Investigative Reporting and KQED Public Radio, Jones compares the lifting of alcohol prohibition in the 1930s to the current shift in attitudes toward cannabis as seen in recently enacted state laws. Jones says that just as the Repeal in 1933 created fortunes for distilleries, a similar business opportunity awaits legal marijuana growers, distributors and retailers. Further, Jones predicts that the arrival of Wall Street money and investments in the industry will be the tipping point for legalization. However, she cautions that pot, much like alcohol, will likely be regulated by under a state-by-state patchwork of different laws. Watch the entire interview on FORA.tv here.
